And it is a country where so-called "anti-racist" organizations, heavily subsidized by the government, fight for the most part only a single "racism": "Islamophobia." Words such as "Islamism" or "radical Islam" have disappeared from the vocabulary of journalists and politicians, and are replaced by fuzzy words: "radicalism" and "extremism". The only people apparently allowed to speak freely of Islam to large audiences are those who describe it as a religion of peace and unlimited love... On June 5, Pierre Cassen and Pascal Hillout, two other members of Riposte Laïque, were sentenced to an extremely heavy fine of 21,200 euros ($26,000) for having written that "street prayers, veils and mosques" were "symbols of occupation and conquest." On April 10, author Renaud Camus was fined 4,000 euros ($5,000) for having said in 2010 that Muslim culture was slowly "replacing" French culture. Three years earlier, in February 2011, writer and political journalist Eric Zemmour was sentenced to a fine of 1,000 euros ($1,250) and a payment of 10,000 euros ($12,500) to various associations and leagues. He had said during a talk show that "the majority of drug dealers in France are black and Arab Muslims." The judges considered this was an "incitement to racial discrimination." Zemmour is currently facing a media storm because of an interview he granted to an Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera, in which he said that "Muslims have their own Civil Code, the Koran" and live "in neighborhoods that the French are gradually leaving." He added that France faced a "risk of chaos and civil war," and that Muslims might have to go. In writing his article, the Italian journalist used the word "deport". Zemmour did not use the word; he was, nevertheless, accused of having used it. Countless complaints were filed against him. The main French "anti-racist" organizations asked all his employers to fire him. One of them, I-television (a rolling news TV channel), did so immediately. The French Interior Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, called for street demonstrations against Zemmour. This is the first time in the history of modern France that an Interior Minister has publicly called for street demonstrations against a journalist. Faced with incessant complaints and attacks, Riposte Laïque decided in March 2013 to relocate its operations and its website to Switzerland, where laws are less severe and where judges are less politicized than in France. France is nonetheless the country where the two perpetrators of the worst anti-Semitic terrorist attacks committed in the name of radical Islam on European soil were born and raised: Mohamed Merah, the killer of three Jewish children and a rabbi in a schoolyard in Toulouse in March 2012, and Mehdi Nemmouche, the murderer of four people at the Jewish Museum in Brussels in May 2014. The French demonstration of "unity" on Sunday, January 11, may have attracted nearly four million marchers and shown a facade of unity, but behind this facade, rising tensions are approaching the breaking point... The event gathered nearly four million people, but seeing in it a mobilization against terrorism, jihad and anti-Semitism would be a mistake. Leaders of "anti-Zionist" left-wing organizations that support Hamas were present. Ministers of states financing jihadist terrorism, and even genocide, were also there. The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia attended, shortly after his nation had just finished flogging Raif Badawi, a young Saudi blogger accused of "insulting Islam," with the first fifty lashes of his sentence of 1000 lashes plus 10 years in prison, for practicing the most gentle free speech. Badawi is now being flayed alive -- "very severely," the lashing order said. He has 950 lashes to go. Turkey, which hosts part of the leadership of the genocidal Hamas organization, was there. Turkey has also jailed more journalists than any other country, including Iran and China. Mahmoud Abbas, the president of a Palestinian unity government, which includes Hamas and directly supports jihadist terrorism as well as genocide, was at the forefront -- smiling. Binyamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, was initially not invited. He came anyhow. French officials let him know that he was not welcome and not to speak. He spoke anyhow. As a sign of disapproval, French officials left the Grand Synagogue of Paris during the ceremony for the dead Jews, before Netanyahu's speech. The President of the populist National Front, Marine Le Pen, was also not included. She is silent. She is sure a coming explosion will happen, and that she will receive more votes... No signs or slogans mentioned jihad or the need to combat jihad or terrorism: the watchword was that these subjects should be shunned. No signs or slogan mentioned anti-Semitism or the real cause of jihadist attacks: caricatures of Mohammed, considered by Koranic law to be blasphemous. Those subjects had to be abandoned. Few French Muslims came -- the tiniest drop in a huge ocean -- and the television cameras immediately homed in on them. They were interviewed and stated their only concern: "Avoid stigmatization of the Muslim community!"... More than 750 no-go zones exist in the country, all under the sway of gang leaders and radical imams... The Muslim population is largely silent, except in the heavily-Muslim suburbs, where those who support Coulibaly and the Kouachi brothers can speak without risking arrest... Several polls show that more that 70% of the French think Islam is incompatible with democracy and Western civilization; those polls predate the recent attacks... The French journalist Eric Zemmour said a short while ago that France was on edge of civil war. His remarks provoked shock. He received multiple death threats. He is now under police protection. Viry-Chatillon is a town 19 miles south of Paris. Of its population of about 30,000 people, 9,000 are foreign born. Of the remaining 21,000, many are second and third generation immigrants who are French by birth. Viry-Chatillon is home to what the French euphemistically call a quarter sensible or “sensitive neighborhood.” This is the sprawling Grande Borne housing project, where 12,000 people live in 3,600 units. Amedy Coulibaly grew up there – and later went on to take hostages and kill five people at a Paris kosher supermarket at the time of the Charlie Hebdo attack in 2015. It’s “sensitive,” alright: Doctors refuse to make house calls, mailmen do not deliver packages, and even the police enter only in force. Thugs and drug dealers run the place. The intersection just outside of Grande Borne is notorious for drug trafficking and attacks on motorists. Any car that comes to a stop is fair game for hijacking or to have its windows smashed and occupants robbed. Several months ago, the mayor of Viry-Chatillon had a surveillance camera installed on a light post at the intersection. He hoped this would reduce crime but it only prompted attacks on the light post. First, drug dealers tried to cut it down with a power saw. Then they stole a truck and smashed it into the post. The city repaired the post, and stationed two squad cars – two officers per car – at the intersection to keep an eye on things. On October 10, an estimated 20 to 30 hooded thugs launched a coordinated attack on the two cars. They smashed the windscreens with concrete blocks and threw Molotov cocktails into the cars, which were soon blackened shells. All four officers were burned, but the two in one of the cars managed to get out fairly quickly. One of them was expected to be back on the job in three weeks while the other was likely to take three months to recover. The attackers of the other car appear to have pushed against the doors to trap the occupants inside. The badly burned officers were rushed to the hospital, where one was put into an artificial coma, and is only now, 10 days after the attack, showing some signs of improvement. His partner was released from hospital nine days after the attack but was not expected to be at work for another three months... France is clearly facing a crisis. Part of its population is at war with the police, and the police want something done about it. But nothing that matters will be done about it because the French cannot articulate the cause of the problem. In not one of the articles about the Viry-Châtillon attack and its aftermath, I couldn’t find a single use of the words “immigrant,” “Arab” or “Muslim.” The assailants were always “youths” and the neighborhood “downtrodden.” Everyone knows that the laughable euphemism “sensitive neighborhood” means a place where no Frenchmen live, but the French are even more squeamish about race than Americans. Many police officers, angry at having to behave like cowards, have organized demonstrations... France signed trade and military agreements with various Arab dictatorships. To seduce its new friends, it eagerly adopted an anti-Israel policy. When, in the 1970s, terrorism in the form of airplane hijackings was invented by the Palestinians, and with the murder of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics, "the Palestinians" all at once became a "sacred cause" and a useful tool for leverage in the Arab world, France, adopting the "cause," became rigidly pro-Palestinian. The Palestinians began to use international terrorism, and France chose to accept this terrorism so long as France was not affected. At the same time, France welcomed mass-immigration from the Arab-Muslim world, evidently as part of a Muslim wish to expand Islam. The Muslim population has since grown in numbers, while failing to assimilate. France did not perceive it at the time, but it placed itself in a trap, and the trap is now closing... One of the world’s leading historians on the Jewish communities in Arab countries is being prosecuted in France for alleged hate speech against Muslims. French newspaper Le Figaro reported that police in June took ten people into custody for allegedly targeting for attack radical imams, veiled women and convicted jihadists released from prison. The arrests were made in the Paris region, Corsica, and in Charante-Maritime. This group was aiming for targets presumed in connection with radical Islam... Raids on several homes turned up rifles, pistols, and homemade grenades... The surprising feature about this group is its composition. It is not one that is usually associated with the “ultra-right” - namely young, skinhead, neo-Nazi types. The ten, for the most part, are family fathers and range in age from 32 to 69 without prior arrest records, and one member is female. And the presumed leader of the group is also a retired national policeman.
