The summer of 2014 was the warmest summer on Earth since records began in 1880, according to a monthly climate report by NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center. source: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/wp/2014/09/18/june-july-august-set-record-for-warmest-summer-on-earth-says-noaa/

The earth’s wildlife population has been cut in half since 1970, according to the World Wildlife Fund’s 2014 Living Planet Report, released Tuesday. The authors of the study blamed human intervention, including habitat loss, hunting, and fishing. source: http://www.outsideonline.com/news-from-the-field/Wildlife-Populations-Declined-by-Half-Since-1970.html

Islamic supremacists across Africa have discovered the illegal trade in elephant ivory. Coveted in Asia, their tusks bring in handsome sums that are funding wars across the continent... Al-Shabaab finances as much as 40% of its operations this way... A 2011 report by the Elephant Action League, whose mission is to fight elephant exploitation and wildlife crime, dubs elephant ivory “the white gold of jihad.” source: http://sheikyermami.com/the-white-gold-of-jihad/

Farcical rules of the International Whaling Commission are open to manipulation and abuse. Japan has long been accused of vote-buying and bribery at the International Whaling Commission. Already, through exploiting the loophole of ‘scientific research’, it has dramatically increased the number and species of whales it kills. Now, it wants to overturn the decades long ban on commercial whaling. video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFjVbLPCwQ4

Many scientists believe our planet is in the early stages of a mass extinction, an event defined by a loss of 75% of species on Earth. It will be the sixth one to occur in the planet's 4.5 billion year history — and the first to be caused by humans... 26% of all known mammals, 13% of birds, and 41% of amphibians are in jeopardy. Scientists don't have enough data for fish and reptiles to make an assessment for them, and insects got off comparatively easy — an estimated 0.5% of known species are thought to be facing extinction... Scientists aren't completely sure how fast all these species are disappearing from the planet, but the fastest estimates — which suggest 690 extinctions take place every week — indicate that the mass extinction could be complete in the next 200 years... The biggest current threat to animals, accounting for 37% of all threats, is exploitation — hunting, fishing, and other similar activities. Habitat degradation is a close second at 31%, and habitat loss comes in third at 13%. source: http://www.businessinsider.com/species-are-disappearing-from-earth-2014-12

African... vultures also provide “muthi” (medicine) for witchdoctors — though the mainstream media rarely report on this, because it sounds like a “racist” caricature. Vultures are sharp-eyed, able to spot a carcass at 10,000 feet. According to the primitive logic of African “medicine men” (and women) — usually referred to by the Zulu term “sangomas” — vulture parts in charms help Africans spy out the numbers of the South African state lottery. Vultures are “strong medicine,” so the demand for dead ones is high. Because they are scavengers, vultures are not as revered as eagles or hawks, but they are equally beautiful — and rare. South Africa has only a few thousand of some species, such as the Cape Griffon vulture (Gyps coprotheres), which is the largest raptor in South Africa... The African lion is also sought after for magic charms, especially the skin, teeth and head. Last May, two rare white lions were killed on a farm in South Africa’s Limpopo province, with the feet and heads hacked off for “muthi...” Zimbabwe still has about 100,000 elephants in its national parks, but there are reports of widespread poisoning... The wildlife crisis can be seen as another consequence of black rule. Lax controls, superstition, corruption, and arbitrary rules have imposed a huge burden on whites, but now other species are suffering as well. The demand for “muthi” is soaring because affirmative action and government employment have led to a dramatic rise in black purchasing power... President-Elect Trump’s promise to cut USAID to Africa would be a welcome first start in curbing the illegal trade in animal parts. Liberals care nothing about South Africa’s farm murders, in which whites are targeted for torture and murder. Perhaps they still have some sympathy left for African wildlife. source: https://www.amren.com/commentary/2017/01/african-superstition-witch-doctors-voodoo-sangomas-muthi-lottery/
